Is my cat overdosing? Sleepy & soft stool after flea/tapeworm meds.

I'm so sorry ! Fleas are no fun! You are doing the right thing in treating your house- that is where most of the flea life cycle lives. Zodiac is not one of my favorite meds.... have safety & efficacy concerns. I would use the capstar and get a better topical from your local veterinarian. I would check with them, but you might be able to start the new topical prior to waiting a month. Don't forget that fleas will always have a "hatch out" 3-4 weeks after you treat your house, so don't forget to re-treat. I hope you can Penny comfortable soon! However, just make sure the cat is at least 4 weeks old for use of Capstar and at least 6 weeks old for use of Praziquantel. I hope this helps and thank you for posting! Best of luck to you!

You can use Capstar concurrently or start a topical the next day. Capstar starts to work to kill adult fleas on your cat within 30 minutes. Within 6 hours all adult fleas on your cat should be dead or dying. It can be given daily if necessary.

Yes, you can give Aries Capstar in addition to the topical Sentry medication. Be sure to continue applying topical flea prevention monthly in order to break the flea lifecycle. When he is due for the next dose of medication, I would recommend using a higher quality (both safer and more effective) flea preventative, such as Advantage, Revolution, or Bravecto. If you have any other dogs or cats in the house, be sure to treat all pets with good quality flea prevention. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

I wouldn't be too concerned. I would recommend repeating treatment in two weeks just to make sure they do not have tapeworms again. There is an over the counter dewormer for tapeworms called Bayer Tapeworm dewormer. It's also generally safe and has rare adverse reactions. Johnson's flea tablet sound very much like a product I am familiar with called Capstar. It is meant to kill the fleas on the pet right away and to be used in conjunction with a longer acting flea product. It's helpful because it starts working quickly, but the effects only last for 24 hours. Your cat may be unsettled because she has a decent flea population on her and now the dying fleas as running around and making her itch. As long as she is okay otherwise, eating, drinking, eliminating normally, with no adverse symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or loss of appetite, I'm inclined to believe that this is what is happening. If she develops any of these symptoms, get her seen by you vet right away.
