Cat sleepy, not eating after feline leukemia vaccine. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal behavior. Going to the vet is stressful for a cat, and that alone could make Momo irritable. Add in the shots, and that will contribute to being grumpy as well as lethargic. I would give him a few days, he should be back to normal by then. I hope this helps!

What a handsome kitty Chai is! I'm sorry to hear that he is not acting like his usual self. If he is acting unusually tired, but still eating and drinking his normal amount, urinating and defecating normally, then I think it is OK for you to watch him for a couple of days to see if he gets over it. If the lethargy continues or you see other signs of illness develop such as poor appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, drinking excessive amounts of water, then I would recommend taking him to see your veterinarian. No, this isn't normal behavior. While you can see a decrease in appetite and some lethargy, it's an unusual reaction to have a cat refusing to eat and drink, as well as not want to move. I would try to tempt her to eat by offering her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) or soaking her food in tuna juice. If she still refuses to eat, then I would have her seen by a vet.

Boots is so cute!!! He's had a pretty stressful day with going to the vet, getting an exam, and getting vaccines. You can see the kitten being very tired and not eating as much after all of this. He should be back to normal within 24 hours, so I wound't be too concerned just yet. Some poor appetite can be considered normal after vaccinations. Vaccines stimulate the immune system to help protect your pet from common diseases they could be exposed to. Vaccines can sometimes cause minor changes in appetite or behavior. Usually I tell clients some decrease in appetite and decreased activity can be normal for 24 hours but for any issues lasting more than 24 hours they should call me ASAP. Some of the major issues (although rare) associated with vaccine reactions are trouble breathing and anaphylactic shock. If you notice any trouble breathing, severe lethargy or swelling of the face or at the vaccine site you should contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. If the poor appetite is still an issue after 24 hours or If any other issues are going on contact your veterinarian ASAP.

I'm so sorry that Noushmc isn't feeling well. Pain at the injection site and mild lethargy are very common with vaccinations and considered normal since the vaccination is stimulating the immune system. It usually lasts 1-2 days and will resolve on its own. If Nouschmc is not eating, is vomiting or it lasts more than 2 days, I would contact your veterinarian. Good luck!
