My cat Harley scratched himself pretty bad on the side of the face (with his own paw) during an ear infection. We’ve been treating the ear infection with antibiotic ear drops, but the cut isn’t healing because every time it scabs, it gets itchy and Harley scratches the scab off. Is there anything I can do to help it heal or stop itching him? Also, what should I keep an eye out for in terms of infection? When does it get to the point I should take him back to the vet?

Hi there. It would help to know where the cut is located? Sometimes a protective bandage or medical shirt is needed if your pet is especially determined to scratch at their wounds. These are available commercially through companies like pets mart and amazon or often through your local veterinarian. Hope this helps!
