Hip disease is more common in older cats, it's usually due to arthritis but can be caused by other joint conditions as well. you will have to take her to the vet in order to get it checked, the vet might need to do an xray to evaluate the severity of the condition.

I do recommend treatment to give her the best quality life she can have. See your vet to help rule out something more nefarious (because cancer and other things also can cause problems in older cats). Then have a discussion about safe medications and supplements for cats. From your description, arthritis is quite possible. It is often under-diagnosed in cats because they are really good at hiding signs of pain. I would recommend that you have Jinx checked out by the vet and have x-rays done to check for this possibility. If they suspect arthritis, they can discuss supplements or medication to help her be more comfortable.

Arthritis is typically in much older pets, and is very uncommon to occur in a cat's shoulder without a history of a significant injury to that joint in the past. I would be worried that Scarlett sustained a more recent injury, either to her joint, bones, muscles or tendons/ligaments. If Scarlett does not want to put weight on her leg, or seems painful when you touch that area, I recommend having her seen by your veterinarian at their next available appointment. Your vet can perform a physical exam to look for any wounds or external injuries, and an orthopedic exam to best localize her injury and determine the best therapy. I hope this is helpful!

At his age, he likely has some arthritis. The best way to treat arthritis is by increasing muscle mass (which is sounds like the kittens are helping Tiger to do by playing with him), and decreasing weight (if overweight, not if underweight). I would first recommend having Tiger seen by a vet to make sure there isn't another cause of him slowing down and also to determine if Tiger is overweight or not. If he is overweight, I would get a low fat, high fiber, senior cat food. There are also special foods that are developed with joint supplement in them to help with arthritis. This is a good idea as well, especially if Tiger isn't overweight. Best of luck with your little ones.

Cats are very sensitive to pain medication so only use it if it’s been prescribed by your veterinarian. Giving omega 3 supplementation wiill help reduce the pain and inflammation from arthritis. Switching to Hills J/D diet, a prescription cat diet formulated for cats with arthritis helps also. In addition I find massage, laser and acupuncture to be effective for pain relief without medication. Also CBD oil can reduce arthritis pain.
