Why does my recently adopted cat still hide after her spay surgery?

Cats do not usually run away when spayed, however if in pain they may attempt to hide so that they can rest and relax. If your cat escaped outdoors it is best to find her as quickly as possible to make sure she does not harm the surgical site and if you find her, examine the site carefluly. If you notice bleeding/torn sutures she needs to return to the vet immediately. She needs to be kept indoors until the surgical site is completely healed up. If she is hiding in the house or under a bed, quietly looking for her is best. Once found, placing litter and food/water near her is a good idea so she can access them as needed. If she appears in a lot of pain, bringing her back to the vet for care or pain meds is needed.

This may be stress and her being scared due to all the new changes. Since she ate a little I would give it a little more time to see if she comes around unless she starts vomiting or not eating at all. If she is. It better after another a day then I would get her checked

It is wonderful you adopted a new cat. New environments can be very scary for certain cats. I would recommend making sure that MIllie has easy access to a litter box and food. I also would make sure she has a safe place to high and get up to a high place (like cat tree). It also can take type for her to adapt to her new space and feel more comfortable. You may start off by partitioning a part of the house for her to get used to. As you get more comfortable with her being outside of the cage, then you may allow her more space within the house. You may also ensure that the doors are closed so that she does not attempt to get out. Finally, you should also spay her before her first cycle so that she is not more likely to get out.
