My cat has a hard, extra claw-like growth on his paw. Is it serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered

Can a cat get something on their paw from having conjunctivitis? He had a hard time getting rid of that. I think it's gone now, but now he has this super dry, hard horn coming out of his paw. It actually looks like an extra claw. Should we be worried?

It's not related to the conjunctivitis, but cats can grown corns on the bottom of their feet. They can be removed if they grow large enough to cause discomfort, which this one might be. If it is removed, I recommend having it submitted for biopsy to make sure it's something benign and not a rare cancerous growth.
