My 10lb cat took half Capstar. Is that enough, or should I give more?

According to Plumb's Veterinary handbook, the only contraindications for use in Capstar is that it's not to be used in animals under two pounds of body weight or under four weeks of age. It's therefore safe to give this to your cat now :-)

It looks like Libby got about 5x the dose she would normally get. Luckily, the toxic dose is quite high for this medication. One study showed that dogs receiving 10x the dose for 14 days showed no outward effects. The lethal dose in rats is about 1000x the dose. Give this, I'd say Libby is rather safe from having a problem. Look for these signs as a warning for toxicity: Lethargy/depression, vomiting, itching, decreased appetite, diarrhea, hyperactivity, incoordination, trembling, seizures, panting, allergic reactions including hives, vocalization, salivation, fever, and nervousness. Please take Libby to the vet immediately if you see any of those signs. Also, if Libby ate the pill within 2 hours, you could take her to the vet and they can induce vomiting - just to be extra safe. If it's been after two hours, then there's no need to make her vomit, so just keep an eye on her. Overall, I think you have little to worry about.

You can use Capstar concurrently or start a topical the next day. Capstar starts to work to kill adult fleas on your cat within 30 minutes. Within 6 hours all adult fleas on your cat should be dead or dying. It can be given daily if necessary.

Capstar is a very safe medication and I would not have concerns about using it even in an older cat as long as there are no known underlying diseases. That being said, Capstar will not prevent future infestations so if Frontline isn't working you will need a different preventative. I typically recommend asking your veterinarian what product seems to work best in your area. A final not - if Dory is in the barn apartment at al there probably are now flea eggs and potentially larvae, and soon there will be adults in the apartment. If they have no host (i.e. if you get Dory on a good preventative with kills fleas quickly) and you continue preventative for three months you may not need to treat the environment, but spraying or bombing the apartment and/or vacuuming/washing weekly could help get everything under control more quickly.

That should take care of the fleas. You can put the tablet in a small amount of canned cat food, or shove it down the throat if the pups won’t take it. I prefer to use a flea comb dipped in soapy water to remove any fleas from the pups. If you do this daily or more often you will get them all. I prefer Advantage to Frontline on tiny dogs as it’s less volume and I’ve had no reactions with it. Frontline sometimes irritates the skin and I do not find it to be as effective. Yes you can as long as the shampoo says it is safe for cats. This will only get the fleas that are currently on them off. After the capstan wears off in 24 hours, it will prevent more fleas from jumping on him. Also, keep in mind that fleas don't live on the cat, they live in the environment. I would recommend to treat the house and yard for fleas as well. And I would recommend to get Oatmeal started on a high quality monthly flea preventative sold by your vet like cheristan, comfortis, etc. I hope this helps.
