The Dawn will only kill the fleas for about 24 hours, but it won't remove the eggs. It will also dry out Ella's skin. The very best prevention is the monthly flea prevention. Also, if you will be bathing toffy, bathe him prior to applying frontline and not after as you may be washing away some of the product if bathing too soon after administering the frontline. Finally, if Toffy does have fleas, then you also need to treat your environment. As he was a stray i believe it is important that you take him to the vet for a checkup, vaccination and deworming treatment. you can de-flea him with Advantage spot on, a very effective over the counter flea treatment.

The safest flea shampoo for a cat is actually Dawn dish soap or baby shampoo. It is very mild and gentle and does well for killing fleas. After a bath you can try frontline or advantage topical if old enough as those do no require prescriptions
