My FeLV positive cat has diarrhea and accidents. Is it FeLV related?

If the diarrhoea is persistently present you could try to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken or white fish and rice for the next 4 days. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist after that or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. This may be from stress, diet, or an infection she had a hard time clearing due to the leukemia. Since she is otherwise normal, you can try a sensitive stomach formula food or prescription GI formula and add a feline probiotic to the food to help her. If you notice blood or any change in her appetite, or it does not seem to clear in the next 24-48 hours, then she needs to be seen for an exam and medication to help

I recommend that you have Archie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello, sorry to hear about Greg. GI signs in cats can be caused by infections, ingestion of foreign material and less likely by a dietary indiscretion (cats don't often eat other types of food they should not). Other common causes in middle or older cats include inflammatory bowel disease IBD or even GI lymphoma in older cats. With Greg having FIV, he is even at more risk of developing infections or other diseases such as IBD. He would require further diagnostics (in addition to blood and urine tests) to confirm these. It may include stool samples and an abdominal ultrasound. Even more, GI biopsies may be recommended if your veterinarian suspects that Greg may have IBD or GI lymphoma. You may try however, offering Greg a bland diet in case this is consistent with a dietary indiscretion. The bland diet could consist of plain white rice, skinless and boneless boiled chicken, and/or low fat cottage cheese. If these help then perhaps Greg may have a dietary indiscretion and will be ok within a few days. However, if he does not improve, has persistent diarrhea, develops a decreased appetite, lethargy, or vomiting then he should be seen by his veterinarian sooner. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It is most likely that he has a viral form of cat flu, this is really common especially in cats who have been in shelters. There is no treatment for the virus as such, if he seems particularly unwell it may have become bacterial so a trip to the vet and sone antibiotics may be required. The diarrohea could be infection or just inflammation from stress/ intolerance etc. If it is intermittent I would try a gadtroitestinal food and you could give a pribiotic. If it becomes regular you should go to the vet.

Poor Fred! This diarrhea could be caused by a GI illness, change in diet, intestinal worms, eating something rotten, or a foreign body. It sounds like he has a bad case of it, and I’d recommend a vet visit due to that. The vet can diagnose the cause of the diarrhea, and can treat him for it. I would take him into a vet today. I would recommend that you have Alfie examined by a veterinarian. His symptoms could be caused by food intolerance, food allergies, intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal lymphoma, hyperthyroidism, systemic disease (liver, kidney, pancreas, diabetes), among others. After a thorough physical exam and review of his history, the vet may recommend bloodwork, intestinal parasite screening, or ultrasound to determine what could be the cause. They may also recommend that you do food trial for possible food allergies.
