My cat's dry, scabby paws: Should I use home remedies or see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year old | 3 lbs

My cat's paws are quite dry, and I'm afraid scab-like. I don't know whether to go to the vets or regularly put some type of petroleum jelly maybe. Or if it's more serious, I am quite worried because I don't have a pet insurer yet due to not knowing which one to pick :(

You will need to take Lola into the vet. The problem with topical creams is that cats will lick them off, and many of these contain ingredients that are not safe to ingested. Have her seen by a vet on Monday.
