My 15 year old cat has been coughing (mouth closed) for nearly 2 weeks. It sounds similar to when she needs to throw up but nothing has come up. What should I do?

I would have Ava seen by a vet for this cough. It is possible that it's due to heart problems, which can start showing in a six year old cat. She could be coughing hard enough that it is causing her to vomit. I'd recommend having a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and x-rays done to diagnose the cause of the cough, as it's not normal for a cat to have a cough for months. Once the cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.
