My cats have fleas on Revolution. Is Capstar safe with Phenobarbital?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My 2 cats have been on Revolution for years. Recently I've seen fleas on them and they scratch. Can I give a Capstar tablet to them along with their monthly Revolution? My one cat gets Phenobarbital for seizures. Would you suggest some other combination of flea prevention?

Capstar is safe to give along with their monthly revolution if needed. Phenobarbital does not have any significant interaction with either medication so that is not of concern either. The bigger question you should be asking is why the Revolution isn't working anymore. If this is the case, I would consider switching to something different. I like the Seresto collars a lot. However, I do caution owners about using them with outdoor cats. I worry about them getting caught on fences and what not. If they are indoor cats, though, Seresto is my recommendation.
