My cat has a black eye lump that bleeds and keeps reappearing.

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

Hello. My cat has had a black lump under his eye since we got him. The vet told us that it is just sleep in his eye, but it gets quite large and seems to bother him. We have tried to remove it gently with a warm cloth, but it ends up bleeding. It usually falls off on its own but comes back within 2-3 days.

If it bleeds when you try to remove it and comes back, then I would be concerned about some type of mass or cancer. Goop from the eye wouldn't keep doing this. I think it is a good idea to have the vet take a second look at Jake. Don't clean it up before you go.
