Can I buy Benefiber and diaper cream for my cat's bottom at Petco?

Try a little diaper cream around the anus to help soothe the irritated area. If he is licking excessively, I recommend an E-collar. It’s usually only necessary for about 24 hours in cases like this. I would not use Miralax if she is having diarrhea as you no longer need a laxative. Benefiber would be my recommendation to help bulk up the stool since she is experiencing diarrhea now. Glandex is fine to continue long term as it is a good source of fiber. You can also use Vetasyl capsules for cats (protein in capsule form). If using Benefiber, I would use ~1/2 tsp added to the food. You can also use Laxatone to help keep stools soft and help prevent constipation. I hope this helps!

If your kitty will eat her food when you add benefiber, it likely will help. The diarrhea could be a side effect of the antibiotic, so you may want to check with your vet about whether the antibiotic should be stopped or changed or the course finished anyway.

You should call the vet with these options. The reason for the recommendation may affect which supplement to be used. You will also need to know the proper amount, since it may not be the same dose as used for a human.

I would actually recommend starting with a vet visit to check for intestinal parasites at his age. And then explore different food options or pursue other testing as the vet recommends, because there is almost certainly an underlying issue (although that doesn't mean it's something serious or dangerous. Probiotics, a short course of antibiotics, a hypoallergenic diet can all help with diarrhea in cats. If you can't get to the vet and want to try fiber, you can mix in unflavored metamucil with his food (aiming for about 2 tsp) once a day to see if that helps, but it's probably going to be a waste of money (both for the metamucil and the wasted food if he won't eat it). Benefiber can be used either way in dogs. If you choose to use it dry, just make sure to mix it well in the dry food so that it coats the kibble and is not just a solid scoop that could be taken in one bite. If you choose to dissolve it, use a small amount of water, and then mix that into Tiny's food. In such small quantities I think that a blockage would be unlikely, but if you see Tiny vomiting or being extremely lethargic with a poor appetite, he should be evaluated by a vet.

There was a link in the answer to the probiotic. You can buy it online without a prescription. I don't live in the UK so I do not know if you can purchase it in a pet store. You will have to call around and see. The answer says you can feed her some canned food to hide the probiotic but just enough to mix it in. You can let her outside if you absolutely have to but it is better for her to stay indoors so you can monitor the stools better. Hope this clarifies.
