What's this patch on my indoor cat's belly? Could it be ringworm?

Hi I noticed this patch on my cats abdomen. Could it be ringworm? He is strictly an indoor cat. Any ideas what it could be?

It is possible that it could be ringworm but it could also be a bacterial skin infection or an allergic dermatitis. If her skin otherwise seems normal then you could try a spray, like Duoxo calm and see if that helps. If the lesion persists or worsens then she should be examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can do a culture or cytology to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat.

From your picture, it does look like Alaska could have ringworm, but I cannot diagnose it from this picture alone. It could also be from an injury or a skin infection. You will need to take him into the vet, who can use a Wood's lamp or fungal culture to diagnose if he does have ringworm or not. If he does have it, the vet can prescribe a medication for it. Cats require oral anti fungal medications to treat ringworm, which is why you have to see the vet as creams will not work. The concern is that the Microsporum canis (fungal organism causing ringworm) is spread diffusely throughout a cat's entire hair coat, such that an isolated topical spray will not cover all surfaces of every hair, and lead to frequent recurrence. In addition, cats will typically lick off any topical cream, and the ingredients are not safe for Alaska to consume. If he does have ringworm, all animals in the home will have to be treated for it because it's so contagious, and you will need to check yourself to make sure you don't get lesions either. Finally, you will need to disinfect your home because the spores can live in the environment for up to 18 months. I will put a link below on how to do this. I would take Alaska into a vet tomorrow. That could be a ringworm patch on Tinsel. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. Don't touch it, as ringworm is highly contagious to humans as well. What is this spot on my 10-week-old kitten's tummy? Is it serious?

It looks like this could be ringworm or some type of yeast or bacterial infection. Even if it is not bothering her, I would recommend that you take her to the veterinarian to test the spot, especially since ringworm can infect humans. The veterinarian will most likely recommend a skin scraping to look for infection and parasites, as well as a culture for ringworm. This way they will be able to treat it appropriately.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Katana evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going with Katana, wear gloves when handling this lesion. Good luck and best wishes!

What's this red, raised spot on my cat's belly? Is it serious?

This could be an area of ringworm infection or alternatively an insect bite or bacterial infection. If it does not clear up in the next t 2-3 days or more lesions develop Dude needs to b examined by his veterinarian. In the meantime wash your hands thoroughly after handling Dude as some infections can be spread to humans.

How to tell if my cat's skin irritation is ringworm or a hot spot?

This is a test that your veterinarian can run easily. While the location in the ventral abdomen is not typical of ringworm in cats, this is certainly possible. One thing to point out is that usually ringworm does not cause itchiness in cats while hot spots or dermal infections tend to do. I recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian can test to see if ringworm is possible. In the meantime, try to avoid having direct contact with this lesion in case it is ringworm as that can be transmitted to humans. Good luck and have a good night!

My indoor cat has a red circle on his head. Is it ringworm?

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal infection). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics/antifungal meds (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching.
