Are my cat's bald spots and brown ear marks caused by mites?

I agree that is considerable alopecia. I would take her in to your vet and have her skin tested for a possible Demodexx mites issue. If she is scratching these areas a lot then a fle allergy or atopic dermatitis have to be considered and treated. I hope that you get to the bottom of Brownies hair loss soon. I think you should get a second opinion from another vet. There are many causes of hair loss from the ears. They include fungal infections, fur mite or flea infestation, allergies from food and/or the environment, hormonal imbalances, environmental conditions, autoimmune disease, dietary deficiencies, behavioral issues, etc.

Unfortunately some tests usually need to be run in order to attempt and find the cause of the scratching, the ears need to be inspected properly to rule out an ear infection, fleas also often cause this type of problem, and it could also be an allergy or some other skin parasites.

Poor Panda! I can tell by the look of his ears that he has been scratching at them quite a bit causing some self trauma which is evident by the red spots (erythema), hair loss and inflammation. Your cat may well have ear mites, which are contagious and extremely itchy, causing cats to scratch their ears raw inside and in front of the ears. I would have an exam done right away so your veterinarian can start the appropriate treatment. You'll have to figure out how to get him into a kennel to go for a vet visit!

Unfortunately, without seeing it in person, I can't say for certain what is causing this rough and bumpy patch beneath Shiki's ear. I can say that if she is scratching below her ear, that can be a sign of an ear infection, and I do think she should see a vet for it. Ear infections in cats can be caused by ear mites, yeast, or bacteria, and can only be treated by medications from the vet. I recommend having Shiki seen by a vet tomorrow to diagnose if she does have an ear infection, and to get medications to treat it if she does. It's important to treat any ear infection promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to hearing loss.

This appearance to the ears could have many causes, including ringworm, ear mites, fleas, bacterial or yeast infection, among others. I would recommend having Tikah examined by a vet to determine the cause and decide which, if any, treatment is indicated.
