My cat's back leg was hurt, but he's not in pain. Should I see a vet?

Hello, it's probably painful, but if he is still using that leg quite well when walking then there is no reason to panic, just keep him at home rested for a few days, try to not encourage him to jump or run, he should improve within 2-3 days.

She probably has a wound from the cat fight. I recommend checking her carefully and clean any scab you find with hydrogen peroxide. It’s best to keep the wound open so the infection can drain. If she stops eating or is too painful then please take her in for a veterinary exam and treatment. Poor kitty! Since this wound looks rather deep and he is limping, I would definitely recommend having him seen by a veterinarian - it looks like he will probably need an antibiotic and possibly an anti-inflammatory or other pain medication, in order to treat the injury and help it heal.

It appears that the muscle layer is exposed in this wound, meaning that there could be some deeper trauma in the area. Often these wounds can result in deep abscesses if not treated. It would be best to bring him to a vet for wound cleaning, flushing, and exploration. If sutures are needed, wounds are most successfully treated within the first 6-8 hours. Poor guy!

I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. This looks like some sort of skin injury. I recommend bathing the area in cool water with a mild anti bacterial shampoo. Rinse it well. Don’t put anything on the skin since cats will groom and lick off the medication making the skin worse and making the cat sick if it eats too much medication. I would offer fresh warm wet food often and fresh water so he won’t get dehydrated. If he is very painful or feels feverish then please take him in for a veterinary exam and treatment. I am sorry Tikvichko is not feeling well. If he is an outdoor cat I would be concerned about an abscess/infection or fracture/break in his bone. Most cats will heal from a broken bone over time however I would call your vet for pain medication for Tikvichko. Also I would recommend a good physical exam because if an infection is present he will need antibiotics to resolve the issue. Hope he feels better soon
