My cat ate tampon strings from the trash. Is this dangerous for her?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I know this is going to sound weird but my cat ate the strings of a couple used tampons from my trash. Should I be worried at all?

String foreign bodies can become entangled in the bowel and cause significant complications. I would monitor her very closely for any signs of pain, discomfort, vomiting or altered stools and also contact your vets office to discuss the option of removal before they have a chance to become an obstruction
