Is it safe to leave my cat alone for a weekend? Hot weather concerns?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cats. They would likely enjoy being able to stay in their own home while you are on vacation. If your neighbor can check on them twice per day, this is most likely a good solution. She can provide food and water, clean their litter boxes and most importantly provide social interaction. Be sure to give her your veterinarian's contact information in case the need arises. The only other consideration would be to board the cats. They would receive more supervision, but it can be a stressful scenario for a cat to be kennels. I hope this information helps!

They could make sure they are eating and using the litter box. Make sure they see all 4 cats during their visit to the house. It is risky to leave them that long. Good luck

Hi, cats can do well in a variety of temperatures. The do not necessarily need to have air conditioning but if the temperature gets above 85 degrees, put a fan on them and make sure they have access to lots of cool water. Have the person checking on them look for lethargy, panting or not wanting to eat. If they are acting fine, they should be fine. If you are concerned about them getting out, make sure the screens are secure. Cats generally won't climb through window screens unless they are being chased. Good luck!

Your cats will probably be ok for a week as long as they have plenty of food and water and lots of litter boxes to use. However, if it is possible I would recommend having someone come by and check on them at least once and maybe clean the boxes.

As long as she isn't a big eater she might get by with that amount of food, though ideally, I would like for her to have someone come in at least once art way through your absence to make sure she's got plenty of food and water until you get home. If there is a family member, friend or neighbor that could look in on her that would be perfect.

I would recommend getting an automatic feeder, 2 pet water fountains, and make sure there are 3 litter boxes set up for the kitties while you are gone. Also Lottie proof your to ensure they don't get into things. This website may have some more tips on things you can leave to keep them entertained and out of trouble while you are gone. Hi. It sounds like you're trying hard to do what is best for Daisy. Some of it depends on her personality, some cats enjoy traveling and new places. I've known several that travelled the country in an RV! That said if you do bring her with you there are certain things you should do for her health and safety. First make sure she is up to date on vaccines and parasite prevention. This is to protect her as she may come into contact with other animals on travels. I would also ensure that she is spayed, as an intact female will try to get outside every heat cycle. She could get lost or injured if this happened someplace she was somewhere unfamiliar. Also, please make sure she has a collar with your cell phone number and I would recommend a microchip as well. If she doesn't enjoy the new places, consider someone to come to your house while you are gone to care for her and keep her company. In these cases, sometimes a companion cat helps ease boredom if people are absent for long stretches. I wouldn't recommend leaving her for more than 24 hours without someone checking food, water and litter boxes.
