My cat needs a vet, but I can't afford the cost. What can I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female

Hi, sorry to bother. A cat I recently took in came in and when I walked in I noticed she had a weird lump on her feet, she was also acting weird when I pulled something out of the back of her leg. I was worried that it's maybe a few ticks. But she won't stay still to let me check. I am also worried that they are around me too. I am only 16 so I don't have a job just yet and she isn't exactly my cat so I don't have the money to take her to a vet to get her checked out.

You aren't a bother at all! I can give you some financial resources that may help you afford a vet. You can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Carefree Credit online.

The other option is to call your local RSPCA to come and get her, and can treat her as needed. Best of luck.
