Usually I recommend a low fat gastrointestinal food for pancreatitis as it is easily digested with minimum fat content. Royal canin does a feline wet GI food. Hills and specific do a similar option. You can get these from your vet. If your cat also has deficiency in pancreatic enzymes these may need supplemented.

Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. The first three brands are a little pricier, but they are very high quality. Choose a food that comes from the can looking like a hockey puck. Avoid foods with gravies or sauces. These are typically higher in carbs which can predispose a cat to obesity. Avoid meat meals, by-products as well as store or discount brands. These latter two contain low quality ingredients and more fillers.

Any complete weight reduction food from companies like Royal Canin, Hills Science Diet or Purina would be suitable. You should also not free-feed your kitty but feed him twice a day according to the instructions on the bag.

I think a cat's diet should consist of mostly protein but you shouldn't eliminate all carbs. I think a mixture of canned and either freeze dried or dry food is healthiest.
