What's the best food for my healthy young indoor cat, AAFCO standards?

Any food from a name brand source, science diet, Purina, Iams, royal canin, are typically well balanced for cats. There is specific label that says AAFCO.. you do want to make sure this on there as it means it was tested and approved to standards. Each company makes certain formulas and flavors that you can pick from to select the best ingredients you want such as natural balance by science diet

Do not combine foods, this causes GI upset. Brands of food I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina Pro Plan, and Iams. I recommend these foods because they run their own feeding trials, meet AAFCO standards, and have veterinary nutritionists on staff. They are the only four brands to do this. I think an indoor cat formula would be best for Storm. As for water, get a pet water fountain. It provides a constant source of fresh water, and encourages cats to drink. I have one for my cats, and they love it. Don't change litter if he has one he likes. Cats are very picky about litter, and a change in litter can lead to them not using their box.

Both dry and wet diets are equally good in general especially for younger cats. Don't believe those sites. Typically they are written by people who have absolutely no training in animal nutrition. The best brands of cat food are Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. They meet AAFCO standards, run feeding trials, and (most important), have veterinary nutritionists on staff that ensure the food is healthy and balanced. They are the only brands to have this. I feed my cats Iams, and they love it (including my Persian).

Wellness, Weruva and Royal Canin are all good choices. When it comes to a canned food, look for one with a named protein source of animal (not plant) origin. Choose a food that comes from the can looking like a hockey puck. Avoid foods with gravies or sauces. These are typically higher in carbs which can predispose a cat to obesity. Avoid meat meals, by-products as well as store or discount brands. These latter two contain low quality ingredients and more fillers.

Hi there! Hunny Cat is very cute! I believe it's better to feed cats canned food. It has more moisture and adds a little bit more hydration to their daily intake. Later in life, cats can commonly develop kidney disease and/or urinary bladder disease. In both cases, cats will benefit greatly from the increased water content of a canned diet. The canned food is a lot better too to help keep an indoor cat's weight in check. All indoor cats have a tendency to become overweight, as they don't exercise as much as feral cats. Since cats usually will ingest the canned food right away, it is easier to portion the food out and also provide cats with meal times. This is very helpful to increase their metabolism, and to help discourage them from gaining weight. Far too often, we see cats being fed a pile of dried food in a bowl where they eat buffet-style on and off all day long. This can easily lead to weight gain and obesity, as well as all sorts of health problems. Nutro is good food, and so is tiki cat, weruva, science diet, royal canin, and iams/eukanuba, Purina is also good. I just like for pets to have a balanced diet. You want to buy a food that is from a reputable company and meets AAFCO standards. Purina ProPlan is an excellent food, one I highly recommend. Not only do they meet AAFCO standards, but they have veterinary nutritionists on staff to ensure the food meets a cat's nutritional needs and run feeding trials. If Kenwood likes Blossom's Purina, it's fine to feed him that as well. You can feed Kenwood a mix of wet and dry food to help him lose a bit of weight. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
