My Bengal cat is aggressive to other cats after going outside. Why?

Unfortunately the new cat is likely causing stress and this is a common feeling reaction to stress. She may not want to go outside as long as that other cat is around. It may be difficult to keep the other cat out of your area unless you want to purchase or build a fence. There are fences available that have curvature to the top that make it difficult for a cat to climb over. There are some things you can do at home that can help to manage her stress. Set aside 30 minutes a day for a vigorous play. Use a pheromone diffuser. There is a special prescription food made by Royal Canin called calm which may help. Use food puzzles. Give environmental enrichment. Lastly, your veterinarian has medications which can help as well. Many cats require a combination of therapies. Best of luck.

Is he on flea prevention? If not, fleas can cause over grooming and acting strangely. Every cat that goes outdoors no matter where you live should be on flea prevention. If you want him to stay inside more I suggest you make inside more inviting and comfortable for him. I recommend you put some Feliway diffusers in your house and do some environmental enrichment for him. Feliway is basically "happy cat" pheromones and makes them calm and reduces stress indoors. It sounds like the cat outside is causing your cat some anxiety. The best thing to do would be to keep your cat away from the window or try and get the outside cat to stay away from the window. You could try a Feliway Diffuser and see if that helps with the anxiety. You could also talk to your vet about prescribing an anti-anxiety medication for your cat.

That is very unusual and sounds scary! There could be a few reasons for this behavior. Sometimes there could be pain or a medical condition causing a change in behavior. Since Oscar can't talk and tell you what is happening, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian to be safe. Sometimes this behavior is related to the stress of seeing another cat outside. For some cats, this causes frustration and they can then exhibit bullying type behavior to other pets or people within the house. It sounds like she may want out due to stress or a problem with a different cat in the house. With 6 cats, it can be stressful for her if there is a problem between one of them. Some just do better in a single cat household. You can try to provide an enclosure outside that is safe for her to go out in or see how she does as an indoor/outdoor cat if the environment allows it. If the situation continues you can always talk to your vet about behavior medication.

You can start with Feliway spray and diffusers as this can help with areas and anxiety. If that is no help they do offer prescription anxiety medications and natural calming treats.
