If he is healthy, there's no reason he can't make the trip. Without a physical exam though, it is impossible to say about for sure. Set him up in a secure travel cage. Make sure it isn't bumped or jostled about and keep it out of direct sunlight or strong drafts. Monitor him for signs of stress and take a break if needed. Consider using a cage cover to provide more security and protection.

Hello. If you can fit the original cage in your car, that would be best. You have a relatively short trip, so I do not think this will be overly stressful for him. Remove the food & water, make sure the cage is well anchored in case you have to hit the breaks & cover the cage with a light sheet. At your destination, place the cage in the quietest room possible & try to keep curious family members from attempting to engage your bird. The main question is, will she stay relaxed in the car when she looks out the window and the landscape rushes past her? You can try this out, but if she gets upset, I suggest you cover the cage and basically entice her to sleep. It is also important to do this at dusk while driving at night as the lights will be upsetting. IIf your bird gets upset, cover the cage. That should work.

That transport cage is fine. You don't need to add anything else and you definitely don't need to sedate Kali. The only change I would recommend is to use a water bottle to prevent spills. Keep the cage away from open windows, vents and strong drafts. Use a light blanket to cover the cage to provide more security.

You should be able to purchase a travel cage at any local pet store that carries bird supplies. You'll want to find one that is large enough to house all three birds comfortably, and that a food and water dish can be placed in. You'll want the same spacing of the bars as you would a regular cage (usually 1/2 inch or smaller for parakeet and smaller birds) to prevent any injury. You may also want to find a cover that can fit the travel cage as well, as keeping it dark while moving the birds can help reduce stress and anxiety during the move.

If your birds are currently laying on a nest of eggs it would be best to try and find someone to care for them at home as the movement and jostling of being on a flight could be enough to crack or break the eggs, killing the babies inside. Flights are also very stressful for birds. If you must take them on the flight, checking with your airline to see what the regulations for transporting birds are is best. Keeping them in a small flight cage that can be covered and stocked with food and water is best to help reduce stress and ensure your birds have access to food and water at all times.
