Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male
I found my 9 year male parakeet had died overnight, In the middle of the night, I thought I heard him squeal out. I woke up but when I listened more, I did not hear anything so I fell back asleep. Only slightly unusual behavior was 2 days ago he flapped his wings for a much longer time than usual. Also, 2-3 days ago he was talking very loud for 10 minutes straight. This seemed a little unusual. Other than that he seemed fine. It has been very cold, but I cover him up at night. Any causes?

I am so sorry to hear that this has happened to your Sunshine. Based on your description of what happened and how quickly he passed away I would be concerned about a disease process in his liver, kidneys, or heart. Oftentimes with these types of diseases, the birds will not show symptoms or let you know they are sick at all, which makes it very difficult to determine what is going on and to know how to treat them.
Since his disease process occurred so quickly there was probably nothing you could have done treatment wise to help him. I’m so sorry for your loss.
