Why do my green-cheek conure's wing feathers look unhealthy?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Conure | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old

Hi, I have a 1.5 year old greencheek conure. He eats maily pallets, some vegetables fruit and nuts. His short feathers on the wings dont look healthy. I have searched with flashlight to find parasites but didnt. What is causing this?

Thanks for reaching out about Billy and including photos. Viral diseases, nutritional deficiencies or metabolic disorders are all possible. Stress can cause feather destructive behavior. Some external parasites are only on the animal during the evening hours therefore are difficult to identify during the day. A veterinary visit is recommended.
Good luck.
