My cockatiel has a small amount of blood in its beak. Is it okay?

If Sara is otherwise acting normal and the bleeding has completely stopped then I would not be too concerned. She most likely tore a toe nail and it caused the bleeding. Continue to monitor Sara for the next day or so. As long as the bleeding does not continue and she is eating well and otherwise acting like herself you should have nothing to worry about. This is not at all normal and I would recommend seeing a vet immediately, especially if it has happened more than once. Injury to the face or nasal passages, respiratory problems, disease, illness, nutritional issues, something stuck in the nose, etc can all be possible causes, and seeking vet care ASAP is best to determine the problem. If Sunny is housed with any other birds, it would be best to move her to a separate hospital cage with easy access to food and water to prevent being picked on by other birds until you can get into your vet.

Hello. Blood in the droppings is not normal. This could signify an serious infection of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, or reproductive tract since birds have a single common opening for all 3 systems (the cloaca). Other possible causes of blood would be a retained or broken egg, heavy metal toxicity, foreign body, trauma, or a bleeding tumor. Whatever the underlying cause, it is potentially serious and requires a thorough assessment and treatment by a veterinarian. One thing I have seen is birds that have recently eaten red berries or other red food may pass droppings that may resemble blood. If Angel hasn’t recently (within 12-24 hours) eaten anything very red, then i would take her to a veterinarian as soon as possible. Good luck.

If Kara has been bleeding from the mouth and it is not stopping after several days, it is best to seek veterinary care immediately. It's possible there could be something in her mouth or throat that has caused injury and bleeding, there is a GI issue causing her to bring up blood, or there is something in her nose/mouth such as a growth or tumor that has burst and is now bleeding. A complete exam is needed to try and find the underlying cause. If she is currently housed with other birds, it is a good idea to move her to a separate hospital cage that is kept warm and with easy access to food and water. This can help avoid having her get picked on by other birds and injured worse, and prevent the spread of any potentially contagious illnesses until she can be seen by a vet.

Ideally, Doodlee should be examined by your veterinarian or an avian veterinarian. A physical exam will be required to assess any beak injury and to administer treatment if indicated. Monitor him for lethargy, loss of appetite or difficulty eating. Consider separating the birds until Doodlee is examined and healed. Do not attempt to clean it unless directed by your vet.

I wouldn't worry too much about this. Once the blood feather is removed, the body naturally seals off the area and cuts off the blood supply. He would have to do some severe damage to himself in order for it to bleed as much as it did. There's little chance that a bird would cause this much harm to itself, so I would not worry about it.
