How often do birds lay eggs and when do they start incubating?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Conure | Female | 2 years and 9 months old

How long does a bird take to lay an egg(laying not ovulation)? Also when she begin incubating them? Because I have read that they began after a certain amount of eggs are laid?

Birds will not usually sit on eggs until the entire clutch is laid. Clutch size varies by bird and by species and whether any eggs are lost or damage and need to be replaced.
Eggs are laid most often about every 2 to 3 days (some daily to every other day).
