Why aren't my bird's clipped wings growing back and feathers ruffled?

You can't do anything to make the feathers grow faster aside from providing good nutrition. The feathers that are cut never actually grow back, you have to wait until the moult and new feathers coming in to replace the cut ones. A birds moult different amounts, but usually a couple of times a year.

In nature birds need to be able to fly all of the time and therefore they don't lose all their wing feathers (primaries and secondaries) at one time. Because of this the trimmed feathers don't regrow all at the same time. It may take a long time until the process is complete. It can take anywhere from several months to a year before the feathers grow back. I would not be overly concerned at this stage. If you cannot find the cause of your bird's feather loss and balding, it would be best to have her examined by a local avian vet so they can check for any of these common issues and get her feeling better. Birds routinely shed their feathers, and it is called molting. After the old feathers are lost, new feathers will grow in their place. If you would like for Cripp to be able to fly, you would not want to cut the feathers again. If you did want to prevent him from flying, you would need to have the feathers cut again. You don't "need" to get them clipped. The feathers do not grow back, rather they are replaced after a molt. If you choose to have him evaluated by your veterinarian, simply warm up the car and then cover the cage when you go from pace to place. He should be fine to travel this way.

If it grows in rotated, there is a chance this might be a persistent problem. Then a veterinary visit is recommended to diagnose the condition, which might include blood work, a nutrition discussion and possible follicle biopsy. The pictures are really blurry so it's hard to see, but if you're seeing round cylinder-like feathers protruding from the skin that is likely a pin feather. This is a normal feather that is growing back in after the old one is lost. If your bird recently lost a lot of feathers and is now growing them back, they likely were molting, which is normal! This is just the normal replacement of old feathers with new ones. If Sheephony seems cold, moving them to a warmer location until their feathers have regrown can help.
