Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Feeding a fish based commercial diet that is nutritionally complete is just fine as long as Cinderella is not allergic to the fish in the food you are giving. Cats that are fed raw fish frequently is more of the concern as they can develop serious nutritional deficits and vitamin deficiencies such as Thiamine deficiency which can be deadly. It is for this reason feeding raw fish primarily to cats is not recommended. However, feeding a small amount of tuna from a can occasionally as a treat is okay and will not cause a vitamin deficiency as long as they are also eating a commercially prepared food. No need to change the food Cinderella is enjoying now. From what you described, it sounds like she has tried a few foods that may have been giving her runny stools so if she is doing well on this particular food from Taste of the Wild, then I would keep her on that. I hope this helps!

Glad to hear you decided to get yourself a kitty! Some cats take longer to get used to their owners than others. It is great that she gets along with dogs, as so many cats and dogs are not able to functionally coexist. The best think you can do is just give Crystal some time and let her come to you. Any time she comes to you, take it very slowly and offer her love and treats. Cats respond similarly to positive reinforcement as dogs, but has to be done with a little more finesse. In terms of the food, any type of food labeled for cats is OK, with some brands being of higher quality than others. By six months of age, you should be able to feed regular adult cat food instead of kitten food. If you are thinking of letting your cat outside, I would make sure that she is fully vaccinated against FeLV in addition to the FVRCP combo and Rabies. Obviously allowing cats to go outside puts the at a greater risk for illness and injury. Depending on the cat, sometimes they simply don't fu

No studies have been done comparing the different potential sources to the best of my knowledge,. Rather the research has been approached as looking at fish oil as a whole. I suspect the salmon or cod are the best sources since they are more similar to mammals which generally means they are broken down easier. There are a few things to know and consider before starting this type of supplement. Heavy metals and other toxins, as well as contaminates, are not uncommon so I recommend to speak with your veterinarian about a recommendation that is not only purified but also verified to be free of contaminants. Here are some helpful links: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/fish-oil https://www.petcoach.co/article/omega-fatty-acids-sources-effects-therapeutic-uses-in-cats/ Dosage varies based upon the product and instructions will be on the package (it will be based on weight). Your veterinarian can help you to determine an appropriate dose. Best of luck.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Skye. Personally, I agree with your veterinarian. Royal Canin is a superior product to Taste of the Wild. They have many veterinarians on staff to formulate their diets and out extensive research into their foods. Taste of the Wild seems to spend a ton of money on advertising. There is a lot of misinformation regarding pet foods. By-products are not lower quality ingredients. For example, if a wolf in the wild kills a moose to eat, it does not eat the skeletal muscle of the limbs first. It eats the internal organs as.these have a higher concentration of nutrients. I recently had a chance to speak with an ecologist at a university on this very topic. By-products are typically organ meat. Bottom line though, you need a food that works for your individual dog. I hope this information helps!
