Hi, in terms of cat furniture don’t worry cats don’t need anything particularly fancy. They enjoy sitting on a shelf as in the picture and look outside the window. You would add some cardboard boxes that can also work as cratching posts and a couple of pillow on the bookshelf. I think the feeding area would better be moved, because being right in front of the windows is exposed, they can see/be seen and could spot something that might upset them. It is also advisable to keep feeding areas away from their litter tray and perhaps moving it would help increasing this distance. Are there only two cats in the room ? If so also consider the number of litter trays. I mo not sure how many you have at present, and if things work out well I probably would suggest not to change them. You can find lots of ideas in building/creating cat furniture from ikea furniture if you fancy a change in the future. Also cats will need to be active and interact with you so make sure you consider this in your rou

I would recommend adding another litter box (or 2 since the "correct" number of litter boxes in a house is the number of cats plus one) to the basement first. Make sure it is not in an area near a washer or dryer that may make noise and scare them or near their food or water bowls. Once they are using the boxes in the basement consistently, you can try moving the upstairs box. I would recommend moving it gradually. I know it can be a hassle, but the last thing you want is cats that are not using their litterbox, so it's worth going slowly to be safe. Good luck! I hope that was helpful! Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hi there. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. You are doing fine. Just give them some time to feel comfortable. Avoid stress and loud noises. Don't put their food/litter box in any place where there is a lot of traffic/noise. Don't force them to do anything as this will make it worse. I suggest you try some Feliway diffusers in your house. These diffusers release pheromones that help to calm cats. It works great! https://www.feliway.com/us#redirected https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/comfort-zone-diffuser-with-feliway-for-cats Be sure to get enough diffusers to cover the square footage of your house. The other thing you can do is try to entice them to come out by using toys, especially ones with catnip. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

The food bowl should be in a separate room than the litter bowl, i recommend putting one water bowl in the same room as the food but not one beside the other, i also recommend having an additional water bowl in a different room. Beds and scratching posts according to the space you have in your home.
