Hi next months it’s peko bday he is turning one and I’d like to start giving him smackers and petsile fruits food can I give him and my another budgie she is also turning one
Happy birthday, Peko! I'm not entirely sure what smackers and petsile fruits are, but they look to be some sort of seed treat made especially for birds, so it should be OK to give. If you'd like to give the birds a special treat, some veggies such as salad greens, berries, fruits like a little apple or pear, etc can all be given as a fun snack as an alternate option. Other items such as spray millet are another fun treat most budgies enjoy. Make sure you are giving any treats in moderation and still feeding their regular diet to ensure they stay healthy and do not have any GI upset.

Feed a commercial pelleted diet (Harrison's, Roudybush, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or Exact) supplemented with a small amount of a fortified seed mix, fresh greens and vegetables and cooked foods such as grains, beans and pastas. You can even offer a bit of scrambled eggs, shells included, occasionally.

Should I feed my Indian ringneck with sunflower seeds?? I've heard that feeding them with sunflower seeds cause fatty liver... And if feeding them with seeds are wrong what should I feed them? Thank you.
Thanks for reaching out abut Muthu. You are correct that sunflower seeds, and most other seeds, are high in fat and poor in nutrients. Parrots need to eat a wide variety of vegetables, a protein source (beans, legumes, tofu), and avian pellets. A veterinary visit would be a good idea to assess his health and provide advise for diet and husbandry. Good luck.

I have a 22 year old Timneh African Grey parrot. I have used Harrison's pellets medium size in the past. It has been discontinued. My parrot won't eat the fine size and drops the large size into water. I need suggestions of what else to use.

Feed a good quality pelleted diet (Harrison's, Roudybush, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or Exact) supplemented with a fortified seed mix and fresh greens and vegetables. Provide a cuttlebone or mineral block. Always have fresh water available. Provide an appropriately sized nesting box and suitable nesting material (straw, Aspen shaving, shredded newspaper, etc.).
