I am sorry to hear about Ralphie's issue with his leg! If he has never had an x-ray I would consider having your vet take one to see if there is anything that could be done. I do believe Hills Science Diet Large Breed is a great dog food. I usually recommend this or Purina Pro Plan large breed food for a large breed dog.

I would say Joey is a large breed dog based on his mix of breeds. I recommend feeing him a high quality large breed dog food. These foods will have joint support, which is great for bigger dogs. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

Hi there and thank you for your question. There is currently no research out there hat supports this claim. Lance should be on a good quality puppy food until he is about 1 year old- sounds like you have a nice food there (Hills Science Large Breed Puppy). That will do just fine until he is 1 year old. Puppies need lots of extra vitamins and minerals in their diets as well as extra calories to match the amount of energy they are expending on growth which a puppy food contains. I would not change his food to adult just yet. I hope this helps!

Science Diet is an excellent food but as you have noticed their over the counter foods typically don't have fish. They do have a prescription diet with fish but it can be expensive. Hello. You are absolutely correct. The number of foods, & the claims they make are mind numbing. There is some truth that some breeds do seem to do better with certain diets, but in the case with GSD, the important thing is to not allow explosive growth due to their susceptibility to develop dysplasia. So, the RC food probably modifies calories, which is what is already done in any large breed puppy food. You can switch to the RC, but staying with the Hills Large Breed will do exactly the same thing. It is all, in this case, marketing & while I do love & recommend RC as well as Hills, I think RC is just pushing for more shelf space. And they do great photography with the breeds.
