When you pick Reddington up after his procedure he will be a little sleepy from the anesthesia. You will want to keep him inside and very quiet. You will probably be able to feed him a small meal if your vet says it's ok. When he needs to go outside to potty you may even want to keep him on a leash if he tends to get really excitable in the yard. You want to make sure he does not lick at his incision, so an e-collar (cone of shame) is a good idea. Make sure to give the pain medication your vet prescribes to keep him comfortable. The total recovery time is about 10 days. For that time you want to keep him relatively quiet , no off leash walks, wrestling with other dogs or baths.

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. It sounds like PhatPhat has underlying allergies. That being said, it is not likely to be a true food allergy. If you play the odds, it is more likely to be an environmental allergy. The only way to know for sure if she has a food allergy is to have her allergy tested. I would really recommend you have that done. To answer your question specifically about dog food that is small bites and no red dye, I would recommend this one. ( https://nutro.com/shop-dogs/natural-dry-dog-food/small-bites-adult-lamb-sweet-potato-recipe ) Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I don't know much about how they spay dogs in China, but I can't say I have ever heard of a dog requiring a four day hospital stay after this procedure. Here in the USA, most dogs will either go home the same day or the day after the procedure. Although a spay is an intra-abdominal procedure were an organ is removed, they tend to wake up well and not particularly painful. Unless they are using some method in China that is far more involved, I would think that the same day method is more in line with realistic.

I'm a nervous mom too, so I certainly understand what you are going through. The way most vet clinics do surgery is that we try to do all surgeries before 1 pm, so they have at least a few hours to recover before they are sent home. Most vets prefer to do dog spays first, so Sienna may already be done with surgery! Often, we do not call after each surgery is over, but will call after all surgeries are over for the day to verify pick up time. But every vet clinic does things differently, so I can't be sure how your vet clinic does things. I'm sure everything is going well, but if you really need to know if Sienna is done with surgery, you can always call to check on her. It certainly wouldn't be the first time an owner has called to check on their baby. Good luck! I hope that made you feel a little better. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
