What is the best and safest bedding to use for my rabbit's cage?

Softwood litters i.e. pine shavings or sawdust newspaper, paper pulp bedding, wood pellets, paper pellets, shredded cardboard, straw and hay all make good bedding. The best is probably a combination of newspaper and hay since you feed hay anyway. Newspaper is also easily cleaned out.

Toys, the radio or tv, can all assist with boredom. Setting up foraging toys so birds need to spend time looking for food. 2. There is no such thing as too big a cage. 3. Heating rocks are rarely approved for use, as they will eventually become faulty and get too hot, potentially damaging the animal. A heat lamp is recommended. 4. The bunny's litter box should be spot cleaned daily and full clean weekly. If you can smell it you waited too long. Good luck.

There is a definite risk of a gastric or intestinal obstruction with ingestion of litter, so I would recommend switching to a bedding type that she will not eat. This may be a bit of trial and error to find the right bedding, but I would suggest trying Carefresh, or Yesterday's News as safe, non-toxic options.
