Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about your kitty. I'm assuming the vet who prescribed these did a corneal eye stain to make sure the surface of the eyes were not damaged. You can place the drops in the eyes as directed and then wait about 15 minutes and follow with the ointment. Great question.

Hello. It sounds like Bean has an ear infection so the Baytril Otic would be used for that. Famciclovir is an anti viral medication generally used to treat feline herpes virus, a very common upper respiratory infection in cats. The Erythromycin Ophthalmic is an antibiotic for the eyes, so the vet is being very through in treating your kitties. Hopefully, everyone will be feeling better soon. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hello. I would be very cautious about using the Efex for such a long period of time. Our veterinary formulary says the maximum use in cats should not exceed 30 days, but even at this time frame, you can still wind up with side effects from the long term use of any flouroquinolone, or run into a problem with antibiotic resistance. If the otitis interna was definitively diagnosed by radiography & myringotomy & this antibiotic was chosen based on a culture & sensitivity, then I would administer the antibiotic with frequent rechecks. Otherwise, an MRI may be necessary to confirm the condition. This may be the antibiotic to use, but 42 days is a bit worrisome. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Either one of those antibiotics would be fine. In general the amoxicillin -clavulanoc may be slightly better absorbed. Unless your cat is a breeding cat, I recommend to have her spayed as this will provide many health benefits. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It is never recommended to medicate a pet without the advice of your veterinarian. A physical exam is strongly recommended to confirm infection so the appropriate antibiotic can be used. Inappropriate antibiotic use can lead to resistant bacteria and may complicate any underlying conditions. If you choose to use this medication, chloramphenicol can cause serious blood abnormalities, thus should be handled with caution.
