my cat has been having a problem with his eyes and has been prescribed both neopoly dex ophthalmic ointment and ofloxacin ophthalmic solution can you mix them or is one better than th eother?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about your kitty. I'm assuming the vet who prescribed these did a corneal eye stain to make sure the surface of the eyes were not damaged. You can place the drops in the eyes as directed and then wait about 15 minutes and follow with the ointment. Great question.

We have an outdoor cat whose eye has been tearing consistently for the past few days. My husband cleaned it with warm wet compress, but it is still teary. I just noticed that there may be some puss. Is there away to get medicine for her?
If there is pus, then there is probably an infection/conjunctivitis. You can try Terramycin eye ointment. It is the only one that does not require a prescription. We are not allowed to write prescriptions over the internet for animals we have never examined - it's against the law. Poor guy. You can try a very small amount of Neosporin on this wound and clean it daily with sterile saline. However, if it doesn't heal well then a trip to your vet for antibiotics is needed. An antibiotic shot is available for cats that works really well for wounds like this. Best wishes with your cat Nicco and I hope this heals soon! Take care.

Ideally, he should be physically examined by your veterinarian before any treatment is administered. He may need systemic antibiotics in addition to topical treatment. Pain medication may also be indicated. Legally, we are prohibited from telling you to medicate your pet in the absence of a physical exam and a VPCR (veterinarian-patient-client relationship).

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco! I would recommend making sure he does not have an underlying disease that may be predisposing him to these infections. Test him for feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) at your veterinarian's clinic to rule these possible causes out. Some cats will have chronic viral infections their entire life and we just treat these as they come. If you are not giving lysine supplementation and not giving Purine Fortiflora, I would definitely recommend doing so as both of these have been shown to lessen the severity and duration of the herpes virus flare ups. I would also consider an upper respiratory culture to make sure that there are no other bacterial causes that may be resistant to the antibiotics currently being given. I hope this helps!
