The law requires a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship and to have this an in person examination of the pet is needed to prescribe medications. We are here to provide advice and support. When purchased through a veterinarian the company will most often guarantee the effectiveness. This is usually not the case with products bought online or over the counter. When sold through a veterinarian the company that manufactures the product will stand behind the product and often pay for medical treatment should the product not work for some reason. The veterinarian also knows how to properly store the product so that it does not get damaged or becomes ineffective. Finally, sometimes over the counter products or products sold online can be counterfeit or even dangerous to use. Your veterinarian also knows what particular products tend to be most effective for your location.

I would recommend trying to order a food off online. There are a lot of companies that will ship you dog food. Even if you cannot find his original brand you can another dry food he might like better than the store brand from the store near by. You can try to buy some canned food too. This might encourage him to eat his new food better. If you absolutely have to you can add a little boiled chicken to motivate him to eat his new food
