I am sorry to hear about your dog! Unfortunately a veterinarian cannot legally prescribe you pain medication without examining your dog within the past year, so we cannot prescribe any medication through our online service. I would look into finding out if there is a low cost option for veterinary services in your area, such as a humane society or APL/APA. You can look for more resources on affording veterinary care at https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/having-trouble-affording-veterinary-care

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Before beginning steroids, I typically start joint supplementation and conservative management before resorting to steroids. Below are the things I currently recommend to combat the pain from arthritis: 1. Dasuquin for large dogs 2. Adequan injections 3. Cold laser therapy 4. Omega 3 fish oil 5. Pain relievers such as amantadine, gabapentin, methadone, and tramadol. If you really want to invest more money into arthritis management PRP injections can help quite a bit. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi there! Yes, there are a number of prescription medications that can be very helpful for dogs with arthritis issues, including NSAIDs such as Rimadyl or Metacam, tramadol, and/or gabapentin. Legally, we cannot prescribe medication for any pet without an exam, so you will need to take Rocky to a veterinarian in your area for an in-person exam and discussion of his issues. That veterinarian should be able to prescribe an appropriate medication for him to help with his pain and stiffness.

Hello. There are many wonderful medication availably to make Sassy much more comfortable in her older years. You can start with a good glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate supplement ( I like Dasuquin by Nutramax ). Then, you can visit with your vet about some of the amazing medications we have to keep our elderly pets so much more comfortable, like NSAIDS ( Previcox, Rimadyl, Deramax, Meloxicam, Galliprant ) to which we can add additional medications such as Gabapentin, if necessary. In addition, adding Adequan injections may actually lower the amount of medications that Sassy might need to keep her comfortable. We have so many safe medications available, but they do need some monitoring. I hope you can talk to your vet soon. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Unfortunately we cannot give prescriptions on this site. It's illegal for us to do it without seeing the dog in person. You will have to see if there is another vet locally where you can get the prescription, but I don't think it's very likely. This isn't something vets recommend doing because of the side effects of that medication.
