Unfortunately we cannot give prescriptions on this site. It's illegal for us to do it without seeing the dog in person. You will have to see if there is another vet locally where you can get the prescription, but I don't think it's very likely. This isn't something vets recommend doing because of the side effects of that medication.

If that is a allergic reaction as it seems, the dose you gave should be enough to stop it. If the signs persist I would recommend to have him checked as soon as possible as more powerful (ideally injectable) treatment with steroids should be given. Hope this answer was helpful, but please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

Unfortunately no. It is illegal for us to prescribe medication from this site, we need to see Dixie in person in order to prescribe medication. You will need to continue to see your vet in order to get her prednisone. Best of luck.

Panting is a documented side effect of dexamethasone. It should stop after the prescription is finished or discontinued. Other causes of panting include pain, stress, heart disease or respiratory disease.
