Hi I just adopted a 6 month old female tabby from my local animal shelter on Saturday. She doesn’t seem to be drinking any water and I want to make sure she doesn’t get dehydrated.
Helen is adorable! I would make sure she is eating wet food and if she is don't worry to much about drinking water. There is a lot of water in wet food and if she is eating that she shouldn't get dehydrated. If she is eating dry food and not drinking then I would recommend adding some water to her dry food. Hi. My Topher can drink water but too slow. He will lick the water one at a time and he will stop drinking but still licking his lips and ater 3 or 5 seconds he will continue to lick the water again and then repeat and so on. He will never gonna fini
I would feed a small amount of wet food twice daily with added water in it. Continue to leave out fresh water and you can try a cat water fountain too. That circulates water and encourages cats to drink more. Most cats will drink what they need daily so I’m not overly concerned about this if he’s acting normal, has a shiny coat, and is a normal weight. If he’s lethargic, thin or not grooming well then he may have an underlying medical problem that needs treatment. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Topher.

My friend just took in a Hyalazion cat, but it won't eat, drink, or anything. She's an older woman, & wanted 2 go get this cat shots but it won't go n the carrier. She has tried food, water, any other suggestions ? Just trying 2 help her out.
Thank you for trying to help this lady out. Anytime a cat is not eating or drinking this is reason for concern and an immediate visit to the vet is warranted. I recommend using Feliway pheromone spray (you can pick this up at PetCo) and spraying it on a towel that you place in the carrier. Hopefully this will entice the cat into the carrier. Good luck!

Hi. I just moved into a new apartment and my cat won't eat, drink or use her litter and she won't stop crying. Is this normal? What do I do? thanks
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is somewhat expected to some extent though it is important to make sure she is drinking water so she does not get dehydrated. I would encourage her to drink and you may get more than 1 litter box to encourage her to use it. If she does not improve within 2-3 days, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment in case there is something else going on. Best of luck!

What do I do if my backyard cat doesn’t wanna drink the fresh cold water I give her in the morning but only the dirty rain water that has tons of bugs and jerms in it? It gets really hot her and I’m worried for her
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Try to avoid that as that water may cause her to get sick. This behavior should be avoided and if she does not drink that water she will then get thirsty and drink the cold water you offer her. Have a good night!
