Great perch...if its not cracked. I ordered two of these for my macaw. o Unfortunately, one came with a long crack down at least 2/3 of the perch and another crack on the opposite side for the last 1/3. The screw-on piece was also cracked halfway through. Is that a problem? Depends on your bird -- for me, it would have meant this perch was not going to serve its purpose (or, more likely, would be chewed through in no time flat). BUT...PETCO chat had me send a picture and immediately credited me for the perch. The other went up today. Hopefully, because it's smooth, she finds it comfortable to stand on near her food bowl. Time will tell... What I can say is the diameter is great for a macaw. Not too thick, not too thin (I feel like I'm doing the parrot version of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears!). And, at the sale price they had for the holiday, well worth the price!

This is a nice natural wood perch. It says Medium but at 14in long and 1.5 in diameter it is more for a small cage and small birds like cockatiels, lovebirds & conures, especially because only one end is secured. A heavy bird would bounce too much but a small bird will luxuriate & relax on all the surface area this perch offers. My year old pair of cockatiels loved it right away. I wanted a smooth, not sandy, natural wood perch with a larger diameter & more surface area so they could relax their feet while sleeping and this is working perfectly! I can't wait to buy them a java wood tree to play on.
