Important to Have Cuttlebones

Cuttlebones are a good source of calcium, so I get them for my parakeets. Recently, one of them laid a few eggs, and she knew that she should go for the cuttlebone. I would watch her do that as soon as I put a new cuttlebone in the cage.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I got these regularly for years. Even the small sized worked ok for me. And more pack sizes were available. But then size of the pack you could get changed, and the price doubled. I waited to see if the price would go down and now it's tripled? I'm disappointed. Petco was my "go to" place for cuttlebone. I need this regularly. But I can't get it here anymore. Is there a cuttlefish shortage?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Small expensive cuttlebones. I can get larger, cheaper ones elsewhere but I was in a hurry, preparing for a trip.

Best product for birds and lobsters.

I don’t actually own a bird but I use the cuttlebone for my freshwater lobster tanks. The nutritional benefits also help the shells of my freshwater lobsters in the same way it helps birds. Really love the quality of life it brings to my pets.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Tried these with my other two pets. Which are sulcata tortoises for the Sahara dessert region of Africa. And they did the job great for their mouths.

Does this cuttlebone have calcium carbonate or calcium sulfate?

  1. All cuttlebones are made of aragonite a form of calcium carbonate. They are the "bones" of cuttlefish.

Is this good for pet garden snails? They need a lot of calcium to build their shells stronger.

  1. Yes! I put one in my aquarium for my aquatic snails. You can also put eggs shells in there.... works just the same!

  1. Hi Abby427, They are 4” x 1.5” Thanks,
