What can I use for a cherry eye on a bulldog?
- Our Vetericyn Plus® eye wash can be used in dogs eyes that suffer from Cherry Eye but it won’t fix the prolapsed eyelid (nictating membrane). The only solution is typically surgery and this would be something to talk to your vet about options. As with many types of prolapse, the tissue can retract and go back to normal but can then become weak and detach again. Our eye wash can be used daily without harm to keep the eyes clean from dirt and debris. One of the main concerns with Cherry Eye is the eye is more likely to get infected since this “third eyelid” is not able to function properly as a protective layer.

Would this work if my dog eye is closed I noticed that his eye was really red and wasn’t opening up at all and I used a warm wash cloth and it would work but than it would get back to being closed.
- Our Antimicrobial Eye Gel is best used when the eye can be opened and closed on its own. If the eye is irritated and wants to remain closed, we suggest using our Antimicrobial Eye Wash, which is a non-gel version. Once they eye is seeing improvement, you can transition to a combination therapy using the eye wash first and then coming back and applying the gel. Good luck!

The directions on the bottle don't specify how much of the product to use. It just says apply to area. How many drops do you use?
- the amount can vary on the size of the eye, however you want to put enough in to coat the eye enough that there is a thin layer once the animal blinks. Excess can be wiped off with a clean cotton ball. Depending on the condition of the eye, it maybe best to flush first with our eye wash and then follow up with the gel. Good luck!

Can you use this for a reptile
- Yes, our Pet Eye Gel is safe for all animals. For reptiles, we generally suggest using our Vetericyn Plus Eye Wash initially instead of the gel formula. With the habitat reptiles are typically in, the liquid is less likely to collect small particles of dirt and debris.

Does this treat conjunctivitis in dogs?
- Thanks for sending in your question. Our Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Pet Eye Gel works great for conjunctivitis in dogs and is proven effective to receive symptoms and greatly improve recovery time. We strongly recommend using our Vetericyn Plus Eye Wash first to clean and flush the eye prior to using the Pet Eye Gel. If the condition is really advanced and they eye is shut or blurry, we suggest seeking veterinary attention as an oral antibiotic may also be needed. Good luck!

Do I put the gel directly on my dogs eyeball or only on the outside/around the eye?
- Hi Jessrp. You will want to apply the gel to wherever the issue is. If it happens to be inside the eye that is where you should apply the gel. We recommend dropping it in the outside corner of the eye to make the process more comfortable for your pet. Also be sure the eye is clean as any debris could cause further irritation. To help you clean and flush they eye you can try Vetericyn eye wash prior to applying the gel.
