Will Tresaderm relieve the intense itching in and on my cat's ears? Vet says ears clean but recovering from yeast infection in ears. Still scratching ear areas until bleeding.
- I had a Maine Coon rescue who was already 7 when he came to live with me and he'd been living out doors probably since he was 6 months to a year. Henry came to me with an awful fungal infection in both ears. After two ear flushes under anesthetic, it became clear it was a chronic infection for which I treated him in the morning with a medicated ear flush from the Vet, followed a half hour later by cleaning his ears with cotton swabs and then applying an antibiotic/antifungal cream, just a drop each ear. I did this for the next six years until he was diagnosed with and died from Pancreatitis. The ears should be clean before putting the medication in. If you're not sure on the ear cleaning, please have your Vet show you what to do. Henry was 25 lbs, I had a blanket I'd wrap him in to do the ear flush, the remainder went all over my glasses after massaging his ears and letting go. You get used to doing something gross when it's someone you love. I had this down to a science with him, it really only took a total of ten minutes. When you use the cotton swabs, scoop up, never down and only go as far as you can actually see. After the ear flush was done, he'd actually let me put the mediated drops in without having to wrap him up, he just got used to it and he'd wait for me to administer them. I hope it works out for you and your cat. If I can do this, so can you.
