NexGard (afoxolaner) is given orally once a month, at the minimum dosage of 1.14 mg/lb (2.5 mg/kg). NexGard can be administered with or without food. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated animals should be observed for a few minutes to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or refused. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost or if vomiting occurs within two hours of administration, redose with another full dose. If a dose is missed, administer NexGard and resume a monthly dosing schedule. Flea Treatment and Prevention: Treatment with NexGard may begin at any time of the year. In areas where fleas are common year-round, monthly treatment with NexGard should continue the entire year without interruption. To minimize the likelihood of flea reinfestation, it is important to treat all animals within a household with an approved flea control product.
Afoxolaner is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. The safe use of NexGard (afoxolaner) in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs has not been evaluated.

Review this Product
Customers say
Customers overwhelmingly praise this flea and tick preventive for its effectiveness and ease of use. Most report zero fleas after consistent monthly use, with many noting it rescued severe infestations. Dogs eagerly consume the chewable tablet as a treat, and reviewers appreciate avoiding messy topicals. Many find the value worthwhile despite the cost. A small number report occasional tick attachment or mild itching, and a few note reduced effectiveness toward month's end or after repeated use, but overall most consider it highly reliable and convenient.

Questions
My Morkie (1/2 Yorkie 1/2 Maltese) doesn't have ticks/fleas, can I still give this to him as a preventative?
- Yes, like my daughter says, fleas don't stop at the door.

Simply trying to order flea treatment for my cat and dog . . . BUT THERE'S NO PLACE TO ENTER MY VET'S INFO! Just a form that when searched in all the ways you folks suggested got me no where! I was Drs. Foster and Smith, when you took over I worried.
- Start with clicking on Pharmacy. Select flea treatment you want. If Vet is required at the bottom you will see a blue RX symbol. Click on it. A form should follow and ask for Vet's name, phone, etc.

I buy Nexguard for a 4lb dog. She doesn't chew it, since the chewable is so small. So will it work if she just swallows it?
- I've never been able to get my 6 yr old chihuahua to take any chewable or pill. I have to split the chewables in half and wrap each have in chicken flavored pill pockets. I have to wrap any meds in them too. It usually takes 3-4 attempts before he'll stop spitting the whole thing out and actually eat it. I have a piller so I can just inject the pill in the back of his throat without having to get a couple in his little mouth when he's under the weather and won't eat or just flat out refuses to eat it in the pill pocket. Its been a life safer. Definately, easier on my boy. Piller looks like a long, real thin syringe if you've never seen/heard of them. They cost about $5 depending on where you get it
