This wand is a success for my foster cat, who doesn't seem into non-interactive toys at all (besides foam balls which he'll bat and chase on his own if he's riled up from an interactive play session and wants to keep going when I can't). Overall this works well as a ribbon-like toy that he likes to hunt while hiding in a box or his cat condo. I am careful not to let him chew on the string, which is the only part of the toy that seems poorly designed. The string is too short, so it's hard to maneuver the caterpillar part when using it for "ground prey." It's a frustration for the human more than the cat since he likes it when I wave it in the air. I just have to work extra hard and in an awkward way when dragging the caterpillar along since the string it's attached to isn't long enough.

I have had this toy for over 6 years and it is still holding up. I did have to tie the worm to the top bc they chewed through the string so I would recommend doing that from the start for longest use out of this toy. It is easily my girls favorite toy and it always what I can get them to play with no matter how lazy they are being. Going to buy two more so I will be covered forever.

I dont know why but my cat is deeply emotion with this toy specifically and will meow/cry with it in his mouth whenever he sees it. I had to throw it out.

No, the string is actually heavy string. Pretty sturdy though so far. My cats play rowdy and play tug of war with these and so far string intact
