Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this prescription cat food for effectively managing urinary health issues, with most reporting significant improvements in their cats' conditions. Many describe life-changing results—cats previously suffering from blockages or infections now thrive on this diet. Most cats actively enjoy both wet and dry versions, including picky eaters, with particular praise for chicken and fish flavors. While customers acknowledge the cost, they consistently frame it as justified by health benefits and avoided veterinary expenses. A few cats refused the food, and some wish for more flavor options or smaller packaging sizes, but these concerns are isolated and do not diminish the overwhelming positive sentiment.

Fine, could be better, could be worse

My cat went on this food after a bladder blockage/struvite crystal formation. Yes, it does help. Your cat will do just fine on this. The prescription products are scientifically better than the regular shelf product you can find at any pet store. However, I still am displeased with this product. Cats do not need rice. That is the last thing they need. So why is there rice in every can? They are obligate carnivores. They need meat. The carbs that rice provides is not exactly ideal for cats. It's not super dangerous, but just because you can doesn't mean you should. The ash content, which is crucial to urinary health in cats, is low. This is very good, and the biggest appeal of this product. While it is difficult, you can find other non-prescription wet foods with the same or lower ash level. Your cat being fed and healthy is the most important thing — if this works for your cat, then perfect, especially considering it's formulated with specific health concerns in mind. But you can find better.

BAD REVIEWS FROM MY CATS

I have 4 cats that have been eating Purina UR wet and dry food for over 3 years. I ordered CD to provide them with some variety, but they didn’t like it. They ate the first 4 cans, but then turned their noses up at subsequent feedings. I wasted about 8 more cans that were left to dry up in their bowls before I gave up. My snobby cats are back on UR, oh well.

Questions

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Can this be warmed up in the microwave?

  1. Yes, just remove from can and heat in a microwave safe dish.

My male 18 month old cat has had crystals removed twice. He was put on hills science diet urinary care CD multicare. How much do I feed him? He is 12 lbs  I have the can food ty

  1. I would give him 1/2 a can am and 1/2 can pm. I add water and a few chucks of fresh cooked chicken ( the water is added because my cat doesn’t drink any  and the chicken because my cat acts hungry ) He does not eat any dry food , only canned.

Why do I need a prescription for this product? Is there a medication in this cat food? My Vet will not prescribe for third party medications.

  1. Exactly!  Why? Our cat requires this FOOD so as not to form crystals and become blocked. But there is no medication in it. It just controls the amounts of minerals, calcium, sodium and potassium citrate to promote the right ph levels. Actually the vet said it’s fine that our other cats in the house eat it as well, since he got blocked from sneaking their other food. So if they can eat it, without a prescription, why do we need to pay a vet bill yearly for our male cat to get a prescription for FOOD?

I need to put my vet information for this food. Where do i do that ?

  1. As you go through checkout, you should get a pop-up asking for your vet information.
