You will need 5 boxes for 4 cats. You can also try to get the see through plastic storage boxes from a department store and use those (with foot-high walls). You can gently put each cat into the litter box and gently take a front leg and scratch the litter with it. It will take effort. The self-cleaning ones may be scary, so turn them off for a while so the cats get used to those boxes first, and then after they start pooping in them and peeing , you can manually turn them on as needed. However cats are very clean and they may not be happy to have old poop near ...

I use Yesteday News which is pelleted litter made from recycled newspaper. They also have pelleted pine litter. The pellets are bigger and don’t track out of the litter box, and don’t stick to their feet. I use just a small amount and clean it daily. I also have a robot vacuum and it vacuums daily on a schedule so the house is clean without me having to do it. The vacuum was one of my favorite purchases ever! Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for your cat.

There are a large number of reasons that a cat will inappropriately urinate or defecate (outside the litter box). I am attaching a handout below which discusses this in detail. https://www.vin.com/veterinarypartner/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951508 The first step in figuring out why a cat is going outside the litter box is to have your veterinarian do an examination and get a urine and/or stool sample to evaluate for a medical reason. If that is normal, then we need to look at other possibilities. The handout above discusses litter box issues that can play a role. Unfortunately, some cats do become afraid of self-cleaning litter boxes if they turn on while the cat is in the box. I have a few suggestions for you. First, the "correct" number of litter boxes is the number of cats plus one. So, if Mystic is your only cat, you should still have 2 boxes. Keep the automatic box, but add another box in another location. Make sure the other box is not covered or lined and is cleaned da

Best thing to do is to get a long, shallow plastic storage container (obviously just the box and not the lid) like the ones you get to store things under the bed. Seems to work the best. Cats like it because it is long. ( https://www.walmart.com/ip/Homz-60-Quart-Twin-King-Under-Bed-Clear-Latching-Storage-set-of-2/40977741 ) Other option is to take a regular large storage container and cut a hole in it on the side so he can go in/out. You can make it any size you want. Here is an example: ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JaVrsy-RgY ) Remember, the more shallow it is for him to get in effectively, the higher chance litter will be scattered everywhere..... Hope this helps. Best wishes.

You can put it on a table that is big enough to leave some walking space in front of the box. Make sure the box is fixated on the table in such a way, that it does not move (you can put velcro on the table and the box). Put the table and box against a wall. Show your kitty where the box is. She should be able and willing to jump up and use it. The other possibility is to have the box in kind of a lift (sits in a basket that has a rope affixed and you can pull it up via a pulley. I hope that works for you and Lily.
