Toltrazuril has safely been used in monitors and other reptiles to treat coccidia infection. Confirm the dose for this and other medications with your veterinarian or an experienced herp veterinarian prior to administration. Shaka should not be fed where there is feces present. Continue to feed him in a separate tank if that is how he has been fed. Clean and sanitize the tank and tank furniture. Remove droppings as soon as possible to prevent reinfection.

Hi there! There are many great commercially-produced reptile carriers out there, but my preference are the kind that have three covered sides and a clear or mesh front. Keeping them calm during travel is important, and preventing them from seeing everything going on outside can be helpful for this. Additionally, getting Clyde adjusted to the carrier before travel is a good idea. Try putting a treat that he likes in the carrier, and allowing him to venture inside on his own. Associating the carrier with a snack may also help to minimize stress in the future. Good luck, and I hope Clyde's future vet visits go well!

Thanks for reaching out about Ruby. Meat such as chicken, is a poor food since it is low in calcium and high in phosphorus. My usually recommendation is 1/3-1/3-1/3, meaning parts vegetables (green, red, yellow, orange), pellets and live fish (goldfish, tetras). The benefit of whole live fish is environmental enrichment (hunting, foraging) and has a skeleton with calcium, muscle and organs rich in other nutrients. Vegetables provide a wide variety of vegetables and the pellets a fairly balanced diet. Water temperature, a basking site with UVB and heat and water quality are also important. Good luck.

The images are a bit blurry. It can be difficult to keep those little guys still! It does look like a YBS. They are not native to the UK and are typically captive bred. They are quite easy to keep. They need warm, clean water, a water heater, a basing spot with an overhead heat lamp, UVB lighting, a balanced diet consisting of animal protein and plant matter, calcium supplementation and multivitamin supplementation. For now, keep water depth no deeper than twice the length of the shell. As it grows, you can increase water depth. Maintain water quality via filtration and regular water changes. Feed a varied diet of prey (appropriately sized feeder fish, earthworms, crickets, etc.) and fresh greens and vegetables. Use a calcium and vitamin supplement and provide UVB lighting. You can review slider care at the link below. It is titled for Red Eared Sliders, however, Yellow Bellied Slider care is the same. http://www.anapsid.org/reslider.html

Confirm proper environmental parameters, especially temperature. Low temps can affect appetite in reptiles and amphibians. Be sure you are offering appropriately sized prey as well. Nothing bigger than the space between the eyes. I would suggest you correct the type of pet you have in the information section. I don't think you have a tadpole if he hangs out with you on the desk. Knowing the species allows us to provide more accurate advice.
